Founder of OpenContent at FKK Special
Over 125 IT professionals and students from different organizations and universities gathered at Yala Maya Kendra, Lalitpur, Nepal for FOSS Ka Kura Special on May 24, 2007. This FOSS Ka Kura Special, termed FOSS Social, was organized by FOSS Nepal Community and was supported by The Center for Open and Sustainable Learning (COSL). A special presentation on OpenContent was delivered by Dr. David Wiley, the Founder of OpenContent and Director of COSL.
In his presentation, Dr. Wiley discussed the idea on Open Content and how the concept is related to the concept of Free/Open Source Software philosophy. The audience got the basic knowledge on Open Content philosophy and different Free/Open Source tools that COSL has been developing to support it.
FOSS Ka Kura a.k.a FKK is a monthly open-discussion program organized by FOSS Nepal Community, where FOSSians can discuss about FOSS, FOSS applications, Localization, GNU/Linux, etc. The main objective of this program is to create public awareness about FOSS applications and developing a Free/Open Source Community in Nepal. The Free/Open Source Community could involve a wide range of people ranging from experts, enthusiasts, FOSS advocates and so on.
