On 14th May 2006, Sunday, the first talk program on Free/Open Source Software (FOSS),लिनक्स का कुरा (Linux Ka Kura) was conducted. Mr. Basanta Shrestha and Mr. Subir Pradhanang were the main speakers in the program while the program was moderated by Mr. Kedar Sharma. Mr. Shrestha, who is also working as a Linux developer at MPP, talked on importance of FOSS. Mr. Pradhanang, another Linux developer at MPP, focussed on Free/Open Source Community (FOSC) and the necessity to develop FOSC. He expressed his hope that from this program FOSC could be developed. He also discussed on Linux, Linux kernel and Linux distributions in the program. The program ended with an active interaction. Next series is scheduled for 28th June, 2006.

Software Freedom Day (SFD) is an international event when people vow for the freedom of the softwares. This year it was celebrated on 15th September by 60 nations along with Nepal. This year's SFD was very important event in the Software's freedom movement in Nepal. For the first time, HLCIT (High Level Commission for Information Technology), government's highest authority for ICT, was SFD's organizing partner along with FOSS-Nepal Community.
