Iran FOSS Strategic plan is underway
Abdolmajiad Riazi, head of the high council of IT of Iran and deputy to the minister of ICT insisted on the significance of FOSS and the government's support for it.
He emphasized that:”The preparation of a strategic plan for development of FOSS in Iran is underway.” He pointed out that the government's policy-making has various aspects and the use of FOSS needs culture change and also training. He mentioned the use of GNU/Linux as an OS with native support in various applications such as DBMS and also at the enterprise level should be promoted.
Head of the high council of information technology insisted on the council's support for national FOSS project so far and added:” The need for FOSS and native OS in the national internet infrastructure and its government data-centers is a fact which has to be operational as soon as possible.
He went on to say the use of FOSS and GNU/Linux OS is common many countries in today's world and said:”Use of FOSS and providing public access to it need localization. Promotion and culture building of FOSS need localization. These localization activities have been conducted by Iran FOSS project to very good extent.
