Vision
Free Software since its inception has been striving for an alternative approach in protecting the freedom of the users, creation, use and distribution of the software. This spirit of Free Software has gone far from just protecting the users freedom to providing a basis to have solutions for the new kind of problems coming up in this digital millennium. Free Software has provided a unique way of keeping the technology in the hands of the community unlike the other paradigms where it is dictated by a few in the other proprietary paradigms. This spirit has further penetrated in to the other streams that gave rise to the birth of Free Knowledge, Opensource Biology, Creative Commons and many more movements. For a country like India which is a developing nation, free software is the only paradigm that will be instrumental in providing globally competitive solutions in all domains.
This convention aims to have a cohesion of people who would be instrumental in porting India in to the domain of free software and providing them with alternatives in different technologies.
