Linux Asia 2007 : Call for applications

This a call for applications for participation in the Round Table Discussion of South Asian countries on E-Governance, Education and Business Models to be held on the sidelines of Linux Asia 2007. This event is being organized by IOSN South Asia in partnership with the Linux Asia team and industry. All interested parties must send the following information in their applications to nrcfoss AT cdac dot in -:

2) Have you been involved with any projects in E-Governance, Education or Business Models using FOSS ?

If so please briefly explain them.


3) Where are you from, where do you live now, and what is your current professional affiliation (organisation you work for, mission of the organisation, position you have in the organisation  etc.)?

4) Please describe your current technical expertise and ability.


5) Why are you interested in attending the Round Table Discussion and Linux Asia 2007;  what do you hope to learn?


6) Are you able/willing to share the acquired skills in your work environment after "Linux Asia 2007"? If yes, how and how many people do you plan to reach?


7) Will you need to receive a travel subsidy in order to attend the event ? If so, please explain why and estimate how much (in US$) your round-trip travel to Delhi will cost.


Applications that omit any of the questions will not be reviewed.

Agenda

The Round Table Discussion of South Asian countries is intended to get the best brains to provide inputs on issues of E-Governance, Education and Business Models as well as facilitate better co-operation between the countries to foster development using FOSS tools and technologies. The participants will also able to attend the various sessions at Linux Asia 2007 thus providing an invaluable experience. For more information on Linux Asia, click here

    Weather

    January-February is spring time in Delhi. The temperature in Delhi is pleasantly cool in the daytime and cold in the evenings. The temperatures range from 23 deg C to 10 deg C. Average is 16 deg C. Warm clothing is advised.


    Currency


    The local currency is the Indian Rupee. 1 US$ = 45 Rs approximately. Currency exchange facilities are provided at the Airport and other centres around the city as well. 





    Indian Visa Requirements

    All foreign nationals are required to present a valid passport and an appropriate (entry, transit or tourist) visa, upon arrival in India. As a visitor to India, you need to get a visa from the Indian Embassy or High Commission. Citizens of Bhutan, Nepal do not require a passport to travel to India.     Letter of Invitation

  • In case you need to submit a letter of invitation for participating in the conference from the organisers, please send us a request as early as possible.



    Immigration and Customs

    Visitors will have to fill out an immigration and customs form on entering India. They may be asked to declare the amount of foreign currency in their possession at the time of entering the country. For international flights, it is usual practice to report three hours before departure from IGI International airport at New Delhi.


    Tours

    Local tours within the city and to tourist destinations like Agra and Jaipur can be arranged at very nominal fares.
