The Free and Open Source Software Asia-Pacific Consultation (FOSSAP II) will provide an effective policy level platform for the exchange of information and experiences in the use of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) for development. There is a growing need for raising awareness on the benefits of FOSS, assistance with formulation of national policies, and case studies of FOSS implementation. The consultation will primarily target policy-makers who can influence national ICT policies.

Asia Source will identify and bring together nearly 100 NGOs and NGO technology support professionals working at the local level across South and South East Asia. Asia Source's primary goal is to act as a focal point in increasing the awareness, integration and adoption of FOSS desktop and tools as a viable option for use amongst the voluntary sector in South and South East Asia. The intention is to move beyond conceptual discussions of the benefits of FOSS in to practical skillsharing between those working with non-profits (NGOs, Media, Education) in the region.
