- This case study reviews the evidence from the experience of the Goa Schools computers project (GSCP) in using an open-source technology solution - Linux Terminal Server - based on a community-government partnership and also private sector involvement to substantially reduce the cost of putting computers in schools in the state of Goa. The study hails the school based telecentre as a model of sustainability for Internet access, while cautioning against the use of open-source and recycled equipment in every setting. The conclusion provides some policy recommendations for implementing similar low cost projects to installing computers in schools.
