I am currently working as a volunteer in Goroka, Papua New Guinea as IT Manager for Goroka General Hospital. I have been given the task of setting up an IT Infrastructure and Software Applications for the Hospital. Although my background is in Proprietary systems I firmly believe that there is currently a window of opportunity for FOSS in Papua New Guinea. As I am new to the FOSS community, I am keen to engage interest and support, both from within PNG and abroad, to develop and ultimately deploy a FOSS Health Information System (HIS) across the 20 odd Hospitals around the country.
