- This month brings us to a new location sponsored by our friends at Data Alliance. The host, Mr. Lau Kai Jern would be introducing us the nitty gritty details about Linux's randomize_va_space(). This is about Linux stack protection, and is a worthy introduction into security. Matsumoto Yukihiro ( or more commonly known as matz ) the creator of the popular Ruby programming language paid a visit to Malaysia last month at the 7th AsiaOSS Symposium. There is much fanfare for Ruby in Malaysia and our friend Teo Choong Ping ( aka Sey ) will be talking about that.

- The lightning round prooved popular in the previous meetup, so thus we shall continue with it for this month. Come armed with your FOSS knowledge and prepare to give out quick 5 minute adhoc presentations to the audience, and also listen to the audience's adhoc presentation. An excellent way to immerse yourself in all things Free and Open Source.

- I would like to welcome everyone into the new Chinese Year, and also welcome everyone to our return to MalaysiaKini. Cheers to the MalaysiaKini for graciously hosting our event. We are always looking for alternatives, be it either software or programming languages, and finding the right tools for the job. Zope is a popular server for building content mangement systems, intranets, portals and custom applications, and Khairil would be introducing us to the Zope Application Server. Though our MyOSS Meetup in November was postponed, Dr. Nah is returning to present to us on "Open Standards and Free and Open Source Software ( FOSS )." The importance of open standards in the IT industry and how help FOSS helps to establish, cement, implement, and enforce these standards. Similarly vice versa with Open Standards impact on FOSS.

- Jaya Kumar will be demonstrating the OLPC ( formerly MIT $100 Dollar Laptop ) revA development board, his experience writing the audio driver for it, talking about mass computing projects and how the Malaysian government and citizens can help. Jaya Kumar is an Embedded Systems architect who has contributed the cs5535audio/IDE, Arc LCD, new quickcam_messenger, DMC9000 touchscreen driver and other works to the Linux kernel and to the Xorg project.
