                      <description>A case study submitted to the Open Source Competency Center by the Center of Information Technology, Office of the Chief Minister and State Secretary of Kedah, has indicated that OpenOffice.org has been installed in 70% of the computers in the Kedah state government agencies. There are currently 2,202 installed seats and by the looks of it, the numbers will just keep rising!</description>

This release comes six months after the University of the Philippines Manila-National Telehealth Center tasked free/open source software (F/OSS) programmer Nathaniel Jayme and Davao-based F/OSS organization DabaweGNU, Inc. to jointly develop FFEHR.  This release marks an important milestone as the project now opens its doors for public review.</description>

                      <description>DabaweGNU, Inc.'s successful undertaking of the first Linux Systems Administration (LiSA1) training last February, encouraged the organization to conduct another training last April 7-11, 2008.  Dubbed, LiSA 1.2, the training attracted systems administrators from all over Mindanao. In all, there were 22 participants.  They represented various industries but many came from the government, education, and telecom sector.  The biggest groups were from the city government of Surigao, University of Southern Mindanao, and Philcom.</description>

                      <description>Hanoi 18 April 2008:    A high-level workshop is discussing key issues around Free and Open Source Software such as business models, regulations and requirements to access the European marketplace in Hanoi, Vietnam.  The event is organised by the initiative “FOSS-Bridge EU-Vietnam” through InWEnt - Capacity Building International of Germany, INRIA of France and IOIT of Vietnam.  The four day event gathers over 30 representatives from key Vietnamese ICT associations and companies, who all share an interest in Free and Open Source Software (FOSS).   In group works and through direct interactions with experienced FOSS experts from Europe and Vietnam, they exchange knowledge on international regulations and how to build better capacity in FOSS business models and applications, which meet the needs of the market in Vietnam and internationally.   Through two additional 6-days workshops in July and November 2008 the participants are supported in becoming multipliers and trainers of FOSS expertise in Vietnam.</description>
