Chittagong - For providing exposure to evolution of the open philosophy and Open Source Software among the locals of the greater Chittagong division, Chittagong Open Source Network has recently been formed. Dr. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, the prominent academician, scientist, writer and columnist announced the official inauguration of the network at the stall of the BdOSN of the book fair at the local Muslim Institute Hall. In his brief speech, he underscored the importance of software freedom and called for wider practice of Free and Open Source Software among the youths for building their necessary ICT skills. Munir Hasan and Rashid Naim from BdOSN, Nasimul Goni from “Shomriddho (prosperous) Bangladesh”, Arafat Rahman Shibu, Sabrun Jamil, Muntasir Sami from Chittagong Open Source Network also were present in the occasion among many others. The organizers of the network announced that seminars and workshops are soon to follow; interested participants can join in using the following Yahoo!Groups - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ctg_osn.
