Davao City is starting a strong FOSS momentum with the presence of not-only mere advocates but developers and trainors encouraging the spirit of the sharing economy. This means that a new level of maturity in FOSS is happening in Davao for producing the next wave of experts within the ecosystem. DabaweGNU, Inc. have been instrumental of raising the awareness and from its own members grew this dedication.

This year, DabaweGNU thrice launched a basic Linux System Administration training dubbed as "LiSA". The event have been warmly attended by system admins of companies and academes within and outside of Davao City. The training was handled by a Linux Certified trainor and president of Dabawegnu, Inc. - Mr. Holden Hao.

Graphics artists in 2D and 3D are now incorporating GIMP and Blender into their research and/or commercial work. Blogs like "The Feather Vane" and "RagingFX" proudly shares the use of FOSS products. According to Mr. Andrew Abogado, "FOSS give us the advantage, especially in the third world, of creating professional work without the need to spend huge amount due to licenses and its available under different platforms."

Will FOSS end the problem of software piracy? Will it give equal advantage to those who are in the less fortunate side of the digital divide? Only time can tell. As for FOSS advocates they are contented of using tools that allow them to accomplish their work and interact with communities that care for one another... that makes this a beautiful world to live in.
