Some resources for SMEs
GNUCash and essays for startups
GNUCash
GNUCash is a very capable accounting package for small businesses. One should also look into their tutorials an concepts also which give you a good guide towards managing your accounts accurately. It has features including customers, vendors, jobs, Invoices, A/P, and A/R.
It also makes a very good personal accounting manager, I find it great in tracking investments and assets such as stocks, bonds and mutual funds.Paul Graham's Essays
http://www.paulgraham.com/articles.htmlI find a few of these essays extremely helpful in terms of advise for startups, but also SMEs.
I particularly like these two: "Beating the Averages" and "Why to Not Not Start a Startup". The former article provides some sound advice on why I should probably start to mention less about the tech details of what I'm doing.
Re: Why mention less re tech details?
There is a footnote in that article as to why not share it?
[2] Robert Morris says that I didn't need to be secretive, because even if our competitors had known we were using Lisp, they wouldn't have understood why: "If they were that smart they'd already be programming in Lisp."

Why mention less re tech details?
As I don't have time to read through Paul Graham's articles, just wondering if you could explain why you should mention less re. the tech details of your projects?
