On Friday, February 9th 2007, FORMASI Indonesia held an event on discussion about Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and Knowledge Sharing about Asia Source II. This event is for introducing FOSS to NGOs, SMEs, and Cooperatives. When IT becomes needs in organizations, there will be need for significant and reliable software to support the organizations. Software will be very supporting the function and task that related with IT support. “Right now, we still have limitation on the access to FOSS”, said Yosef Arihadi from NGO Bina Swadaya, and also Vice Chairperson of Executive Board FORMASI Indonesia, when he opened this discussion. Further, he stated that, “FORMASI Indonesia feels that it is an obligation to help NGOs, SMEs, and Cooperatives to get access to FOSS, since FOSS is cheaper and legal”. “FORMASI Indonesia wants this program to spread and accessed by FORMASI associate in NGOs, SMEs, and Cooperatives”, he said as the closing of the speech.
