Dr. Sulayman K. Sowe is currently a research fellow at the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) a visiting scholar at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS). He previously worked as a senior researcher at UNU Maastricht Economic and social Research and training centre on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT) applying qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques to identify patterns of Open Source Software innovation and technological sustainability in firms, Open Source Software projects and communities. Among his other professional experience, Dr. Sowe taught extensively in computer science and software engineering in Africa, Asia and Europe. He is a member of a number of international, programme committees and editorial review boards, including the the International Journal of Open Source Software & Processes (IJOSSP). Dr. Sowe holds a PhD (summa cum laude) in Computer Science, MSc and Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, BEd in Science Education), and a Higher Teachers Certificate.
Dr. Sowe is the principal investigator of "The Impact of Free and Open Source Software for Sustainable Development in Sub-Saharan Africa (FOSSINA)" project.
